STOP THE CHOMP

Word Its always a touchy feely subject with cats and the discussion can go on for days but heres my take on the whole situation, kids need to straight up stop jackin moves and trying to put on someones character like a piece of clothing.

Biting always gets confused as inspiration, but when you jack a move/movement/thread of moves/signature moves etc shit aiint fresh, true inspiration should be being able to get that raw emotion from another dancer, that vibe or influence.

\If a move or movement was dope enough to impress you, show respect to that dancer and don't just straight chomp there shit, think about it, how you think they got to that movement or position, think of what the dancer was trying to achieve from this, either with the move or its context, was it a switch or something that belongs in a certain pattern, where was the dancer going with it and what was their inspiration?

Signature moves/movements etc Kids need to understand that jacking these moves aiint helping them in anyway, cause when you throw it out regardless of how hard it is, you have just been seen as a biter and most likely lost all respect that you could have earnt from bboys who know whatsup.

If you rock overseas and hit up cyphers and competitions how do you expect to throw out other peoples moves and think you're dope? You lose automatically.

Learning your fundamentals isnt biting they have been layed out there for you to build upon so utilize these movements and ideas to help you shape the dancer you want to be, dont just stop and think once you've learn 1 variation of different fundamentals that this is enough, take time to understand that theres ideas and formulas surrounding each movement and step, powerful movement etc, there are "families" for different movements, take time and school up, this will help your creativity. Knowledge is power simple as that, the more you know the more you can do/utilize.

Character Character is putting that piece of you into the movements and it helps to complement the style you are rocking. People dance for decades and it takes time to develop your character, think of it as the basic idea of "growing up" becoming who you truly are in life, your personality, thats why when a dancer finds their character its sets them apart from the crowd because thats them, their personality is complementing their dancing.

THATS WHY YOU CANT/SHOULDNT JACK SOMEONES CHARACTER! Because for the simple fact its not you and real heads can see straight off the bat that its not you, so why even bother? This can include jacking peoples gestures or ways of trying to burn, portraying a diss to other dancers or just a general persona, give respect to this art form and dancers for their hard work and dedication.

For example: Tryin to act "gangsta" or hard in a battle etc, of course you want to try intimidate the opponent but if you've never got down like that in your life how are you going to know what kind of presence to portray, shit will get you in trouble in some places for real, cats will step you out, outside the jam and really test your character.

In summary all im saying is this, give yourself time, respect this dance and those who dedicate their lives to rocking the real and stop faking the funk with your chump ass herb biter status.

Thats wassup.
